Bronzes by Korczak
Paderewski, Study of an Immortal

This portrait of Paderewski led to the invitation from Chief Henry Standing Bear for Korczak to come to the Black Hills to carve Crazy Horse Memorial.

The portrait won first prize (by popular vote) at the 1939 New York World's Fair. The Competition was titled:

"I don't know art
but I know what I like."

Bronze number three of this series was presented to His Holiness Pope John Paul II by Ruth Ziolkowski and her family in 1997. It is now in the Vatican collection.
